Orphan Welfare Society and Mrs. Salam Bsat, a local Sidonian Artist, held an art exhibition at Le Yacht Club- Beirut in the presence of a number of the organization’s supporters and invitees. Mrs. Bsat donated 50% of the proceeds of her sold paintings to the orphanage. This initiative by Mrs. Bsat is an example of how Art can serve a cause.
The President of OWS, Dr. Said El Makkaoui, thanked Mrs. Bsat and the Ladies Committee who are supporting OWS in Beirut, in addition to Le Yacht Club and everyone who helped in the success of the exhibition.
"I was raised at the orphanage where I made my big family. I'm very proud of the orphanage which is helping me to build my future" said Faten who was raised at the orphanage.
Mrs. Bsat, with the help of her friend and the volunteer at OWS, Mrs. Safa Makkaoui, addressed the audience with touching words, saying: "I didn’t know that my paintings will bring such joy and happiness to the children of the orphanage".
Mrs. Zeina Berjawi El Ariss, a member of the Ladies Committee supporting OWS in Beirut, said: "I appreciate the great work done at the orphanage and I ask everyone to visit it and see the happiness on the children's faces".
The attendees toured the exhibition and bought the paintings they liked, while the students of the culinary and photography classes at the organization’s vocational school attended to the invitees and took photos of the event.
