Orphan Welfare Society and Mr. Zaher Bizir, a local Sidonian Artist, held an art exhibition “Saida in Memory” at Le Yacht Club- Beirut in collaboration with Ladies Committee-Beirut and in the presence of a number of the organization’s supporters and invitees. Mr. Bizri donated 50% of the proceeds of his sold paintings to the orphanage to support Ahmad Riad Jawhari Center for Autism.
The President of OWS, Dr. Said El Makkaoui, thanked Mr. Bizri, the Ladies Committee and Le Yacht Club for supporting this event, and he stressed in his speech the importance of this collaboration saying: “the exhibitin Saida in Memory with Zaher Bizri is one of the series of events that OWS is organizing and aim to highlight on the various services it’s providing for more than 1500 child and at the same time, supporting the Sidonian talents and artists, and this exhibition with Zaher Bizri is to highlight on the memory of old Saida”. Dr. Makkaoui also thanked the event’s partners Hammoud Hospital (Mrs. Diana Hammoud), Staunch Machinery (Mr. Wissam Hijazi) and Framedia (Mr. Ali Koteich).
On his turn, Mr. Zaher Bizri said that he’s glad with this experience and thanked the event planners and supporters, “selling my paintings to support the autistic children is an example of how art can serve a cause and this is the artists’ mission”.
Mrs. Zeina Berjawi El Ariss, a member of the Ladies Committee supporting OWS in Beirut, said: "I’m proud of this experience especially with Orphan Welfare Society in Saida especially that the event is to support a group of children who are in need to our love and passion".
The attendees toured the exhibition and bought the paintings they liked, while the students of the culinary and photography classes at the organization’s vocational school attended to the invitees and took photos of the event.
